Privacy Policy

A legal disclaimer

Last updated: 17th August 2026

This policy explains how I collect, use and protect your personal information. I handle your information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), the National Health Act, and the ethical rules of the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).

1. Who is responsible for your information

Dr KT Wellness Inc, practising as Dr Khushboo Tewari (HPCSA [HPCSA NUMBER]), of [PRACTICE ADDRESS], Fourways, Johannesburg.

Information Officer: Dr Khushboo Tewari
Contact: [PRACTICE EMAIL] | [PRACTICE TELEPHONE]

2. What I collect

- Identity and contact details: your name, ID or date of birth, address, email address and telephone number.
- Health information: your symptoms, medical and family history, medication, allergies, test results, diagnoses, treatment and the clinical notes I make during consultations.
- Account and billing information: your medical scheme details, invoices and payment records.
- Website information: basic technical data collected automatically when you visit this site, and anything you send me through the enquiry form.

Health information is "special personal information" under POPIA and is treated with additional care.

3. Why I use it and on what basis

I use your information to provide medical care to you, to keep the clinical records I am legally required to keep, to issue prescriptions, referrals and sick notes, to bill you or your medical scheme, and to contact you about your care.

I process your health information because it is necessary for medical diagnosis and treatment by a health professional bound by a duty of confidentiality, and with your consent to a virtual consultation. I process your other information to meet my legal and contractual obligations to you.

I do not use your information for marketing without your consent, and I never sell it.

4. Who I share it with

I share your information only where necessary:

- with pharmacies, laboratories, specialists, hospitals or other practitioners involved in your care, with your consent;
- with your medical scheme or its administrator, where a claim is submitted;
- with service providers who support my practice, such as the website, booking, video consultation and payment platforms I use, which are bound to protect it; and
- where the law requires or permits it, for example a court order, a statutory notification, or a serious risk to someone's life or health.

5. Where your information is held

Some of the platforms I use may store information on servers outside South Africa. Where this happens, I take reasonable steps to ensure your information receives a comparable level of protection to that required by POPIA.

6. How long I keep it

I keep clinical records for the period required by law and HPCSA guidance - generally at least six years from the date of the last consultation, and longer for patients who were minors at the time of treatment. Billing records are kept for the period required by tax and company law.

7. Security

I take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your information against loss, unauthorised access and disclosure. No internet-based service can be guaranteed to be completely secure, and you accept this inherent risk when consenting to a virtual consultation.

If a breach occurs that poses a risk to you, I will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.

8. Your rights

You have the right to:

- ask what information I hold about you and request a copy;
- ask me to correct or delete information that is inaccurate, irrelevant, excessive or out of date;
- object to certain processing;
- withdraw your consent, though this may mean I can no longer treat you; and
- complain to the Information Regulator.

To exercise any of these rights, contact me at [PRACTICE EMAIL].

Some information cannot be deleted on request, because I am legally required to retain clinical records for a minimum period.

9. Cookies

This website uses cookies to function correctly and to understand how visitors use it. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling them may affect how parts of the site work.

10. Complaints

Please raise any concern with me first at [PRACTICE EMAIL].
